AHU’s
Please don't hesitate to contact us with any bespoke ideas you have.
AHU stands for Air Handling Unit. It is a device used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to regulate and circulate air within a building or enclosed space. AHUs are typically
large metal boxes that contain various components such as fans, filters, heating or cooling coils, and dampers.
The main functions of an AHU include:
Air Supply: AHUs take in outside air or recirculate indoor air, depending on the system’s requirements, and supply it to different areas of a building through ductwork.
Filtration: AHUs often have filters to remove dust, pollen, and other particulate matter from the air, improving indoor air quality.
Heating and Cooling: AHUs can be equipped with heating coils, cooling coils, or both, depending on the HVAC system’s design. These components help regulate the air temperature and maintain a
comfortable indoor environment.
Humidification and Dehumidification: In some cases, AHUs may also include humidifiers or dehumidifiers to control the moisture content of the air.
Ventilation: AHUs play a crucial role in providing fresh air and removing stale air from a building, ensuring proper ventilation.
AHUs are commonly used in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, hospitals, educational institutions, and other large spaces where temperature control, air quality, and ventilation are important factors for occupant comfort and health.
AHU maintenance typically require the expertise of HVAC technicians or specialized HVAC service providers. Regular maintenance, including cleaning coils, inspecting belts and pulleys, and verifying proper airflow, can help identify potential issues before they escalate. It is important to consult professionals for AHU repairs to ensure proper diagnosis, safety, and optimal performance of the HVAC system.
